Getting Started
How do I enable the Lingo keyboard?
Go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard and select Lingo Keyboard. Then tap Lingo Keyboard in the list and enable Allow Full Access.
Why does Lingo need "Allow Full Access"?
Lingo uses AI to rephrase and translate your text. This requires a network connection, which iOS only allows keyboard extensions if "Allow Full Access" is enabled. Lingo does not log your keystrokes — the AI only activates when you tap the sparkle (✦) button.
How do I switch to the Lingo keyboard?
While typing in any app, tap and hold the 🌐 (globe) key on your current keyboard, then select Lingo from the menu.
Using AI Features
How does rephrase work?
Type your text in any app, then switch to the Lingo keyboard and tap the ✦ sparkle button. Lingo will rewrite your text in the selected tone (casual, formal, professional, etc.) using AI. The result replaces your original text.
How does translation work?
Tap the tone chip (top left of the toolbar) to open settings, enable the Translate toggle, and select your target language. When you tap the sparkle button, Lingo will rephrase and translate your text in one step.
Can I change the tone?
Yes. Tap the tone chip on the left side of the Lingo toolbar to open the tone picker. Available tones: Casual, Formal, Professional, Friendly, Direct, Witty, Flirty, Concise, Persuasive, Empathetic, Humorous, Poetic.
What languages are supported?
English, Turkish, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Arabic, Korean, Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Hindi, Dutch, Polish, Thai, Ukrainian, Indonesian, Vietnamese.
Troubleshooting
The sparkle button isn't working / nothing happens
- Make sure "Allow Full Access" is enabled: Settings → General → Keyboard → Lingo Keyboard → Allow Full Access
- Check your internet connection
- Make sure there is text in the input field before tapping the button
- If you see a red error message, it will explain the specific issue
I'm getting "Daily free limit reached"
Free users can make 3 AI requests per day. The limit resets daily at midnight UTC. Upgrade to Lingo Pro for unlimited requests — tap the PRO button in the toolbar or open the Lingo app.
The keyboard is showing an error message
Error messages appear below the toolbar for a few seconds. Common errors:
- "Enable Allow Full Access…" — Enable full access in iOS Settings (see above)
- "No internet connection" — Check your Wi-Fi or cellular connection
- "Daily free limit reached" — Upgrade to Pro or wait until tomorrow
- "Request timed out" — Server is slow; try again in a moment
The AI result doesn't look right / quality issue
AI outputs can vary. Try a different tone selection or rephrase your input slightly and try again. For very short texts (1–2 words), results may be limited. If you consistently get poor results for a specific language, please contact us — we want to improve.
Lingo Pro isn't activating after purchase
- Open the Lingo app and go to Settings
- Tap Restore Purchases
- If the issue persists, sign out of your Apple ID and sign back in, then restore
- If you're still having trouble, email us at support@lingo-app.com with your Apple order number
Translation history isn't syncing between keyboard and app
Translation history is stored on-device using App Group storage shared between Lingo and the Lingo keyboard. If history isn't appearing in the app, try closing and reopening the Lingo app. History is not synced to the cloud.
Subscriptions & Billing
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, find Lingo, and tap Cancel Subscription. You'll retain Pro access until the end of the current billing period.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund. We cannot process refunds directly.
I was charged but I'm not getting Pro features
Open the Lingo app, go to Settings → Restore Purchases. If the problem continues, email us at support@lingo-app.com with your Apple order number and we'll sort it out.
Privacy & Data
Does Lingo read everything I type?
No. Lingo only processes text when you explicitly tap the sparkle button. It does not monitor or log your regular typing. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I delete my data?
Email us at support@lingo-app.com with your device ID (found in Lingo app → Settings → About) and we will delete all server-side data associated with your device within 30 days.
Is my translation history private?
Yes. Translation history is stored only on your device and is never uploaded to our servers. You can clear it at any time from Lingo app → Settings → Clear History.
