Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Lingo application ("App") and keyboard extension, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the developer of Lingo ("we", "us", or "our").
Description of Service
Lingo is an AI-powered iOS keyboard extension that provides:
- Text rephrasing in multiple tones (casual, formal, professional, etc.)
- AI-assisted translation to 19 supported languages
- Translation history stored locally on your device
The service requires an active internet connection and the "Allow Full Access" keyboard permission to function. AI features are powered by third-party language model providers.
Free Tier and Subscriptions
Free Tier
Free users receive a limited number of AI requests per day (currently 3 requests). This limit resets daily at midnight UTC and may be changed at our discretion with reasonable notice.
Lingo Pro Subscriptions
Lingo Pro removes daily limits and may include additional features. Subscriptions are available on the following plans:
- Weekly: $1.99/week
- Monthly: $4.99/month
- Yearly: $29.99/year
Prices are in USD and may vary by region. All subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's Terms and Conditions.
Billing and Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
Cancellation and Refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policies.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Lingo to:
- Generate, spread, or promote harmful, hateful, violent, or illegal content
- Harass, threaten, or abuse others
- Create spam, phishing messages, or deceptive content
- Circumvent rate limits through automated requests or multiple device IDs
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the App
- Use the service for any purpose that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Resell or sublicense access to the Lingo API
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these terms.
Intellectual Property
The Lingo app, including its design, code, branding, and content, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You retain ownership of any text you input. By submitting text through the App, you grant us a temporary, limited license to process that text solely for the purpose of providing the requested AI service.
AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Lingo uses AI language models to generate rephrased and translated text. You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions
- AI translations may not be suitable for professional or legal documents
- You are solely responsible for reviewing and using any AI-generated content
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, quality, or suitability of AI outputs
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time with reasonable notice where possible. We are not liable for any service interruptions caused by third-party providers (including AI model providers or infrastructure services).
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and if necessary, binding arbitration.
